Summer is here and so are the Celtic Festivals!
Ft. Collins and the Denver Metro area will be home to several Celtic festivals during the months of July and August. There will be competitions, craft fairs, music, dance, food and drink, and lots of fun. Below is information about four festivals this summer. (Click on the images for additional information.) WISE will have a presence at the Colorado Irish Festival in Littleton, the Scottish Festival and Rocky Mountain Highland Games in Edgewater, and the Rocky Mountain Irish Gathering. If you volunteer for WISE at these festivals, you can get in for free. (Click on images for more information.)
The Colorado Irish Festival is happening July 13th–15th at Clement Park in Littleton. The festival features music, dance, food and drink, sheep herding demonstrations, competitions, and a craft fair. WISE will again have lectures, a booth with genealogical information, and a Irish counties flag display. Contact Bill Hughes if you want to volunteer.
The Celtic Festival will be on July 21-22 in Elizabeth and will feature food and drink, crafts, competitions (including home brewing), music and dance, a British car show, piping and living reenactments from the WISE countries. WISE won’t have a table, but sounds like a good time will be had by all.
There are two festivals in August:
The 55th Annual Scottish Festival and Rocky Mountain Highland Games is back in the metro area after a 10 year absence. The Festival, sponsored by the St. Andrew Society of Colorado, will be held in the City of Edgewater. The clans are gathering for Highland games, Highland dancing, piping and drumming, crafts and kilts, and food and strong drink. If you want to join the fun and volunteer for WISE, contact Bruce Haefner.
The Rocky Mountain Irish Gathering will be held in Fort Collins on August 3-5. The organizers invite us to let the celebrations and history of Ireland begin! There is a full lineup of musical and dance performances. Come gather with us at the Festival and visit the WISE booth. If you want to join the fun and volunteer for WISE, contact Sylvia Tracy-Doolos.
Hope to see WISE members at one or all of these festivals.
